What My First Week of Bible Study Taught Me (Even Though I Only Did One Day)

I started Bible study last week.

And if I’m being honest, I only made it through one day.

The rest of the week got away from me—life, work, everything.

But that one day gave me more than I expected.

THREE DEVOTIONALS, ONE MESSAGE

I started with three different devotionals:

One focused on confidence as a woman

One focused on dreaming bigger

One focused on learning the Bible in 365 days

Three different authors. Three different focuses.

But somehow, they all pointed to the same thing:

The beginning.

And timing.

We were in Genesis, so naturally we were talking about beginnings.

But the deeper message that kept coming up was this:

Timing belongs to God.

THE CONVICTION I DIDN’T EXPECT

I’ve been in a season where I’m praying big.

I’m currently in a 40-day prayer challenge, praying ten powerful prayers every day.

And I don’t pray small. I pray with expectation.

Because I believe God moves.

I believe He can do things suddenly.

I believe He responds.

So when I kept seeing that everything happens in God’s timing, I felt convicted.

Because in my mind, I translated that to mean everything I’m praying for is going to happen later.

Much later.

A SHIFT IN THINKING

Then I had a thought that stopped me:

What makes you think God’s timing means later?

That changed everything.

WHAT IF GOD’S TIMING IS NOW

Why do we automatically assume:

God’s timing means delay

God’s timing means waiting

God’s timing means not yet

What if God’s timing is happening right now?

Because when I really paid attention, I realized:

Things are shifting

Doors are opening

Seeds are growing

Not loudly. Not all at once.

But steadily.

THE LESSON I’M STILL LEARNING

I don’t think I’ve fully unpacked this yet.

But I do know this:

I don’t control time.

I can’t speed it up.

I can’t slow it down.

So instead of focusing on when something is going to happen, I need to focus on what I’m doing right now.

Am I participating?

Am I preparing for what I’m praying for?

Am I paying attention to what’s already happening?

Because things are already in motion.

FINAL THOUGHT

Maybe the lesson isn’t about waiting.

Maybe it’s about participating, paying attention, and trusting what’s already unfolding.

Because God’s timing doesn’t always mean later.

Sometimes it means now—you just have to recognize it.
